Employment disputes must go to mediation before a case can be filed, and the deadlines are short. A correctly calculated schedule of claims is what decides the outcome at the mediation table.

In Turkey, applying to a mediator is a condition of filing suit for employment claims and reinstatement; a case filed before mediation is complete is dismissed on procedural grounds. An employee whose contract is terminated must apply to a mediator seeking reinstatement within one month of being served with the notice of termination. Severance pay, notice pay and annual leave claims are subject to a five-year limitation period.
